Overview:
We begin the course by exploring what it really means to be a Brand Champion and how to help others represent their organisation with confidence and authenticity. You’ll examine the different types of spokespeople, learn how to create, deliver and critique messages, and understand how to map and manage stakeholders effectively.
You’ll also gain a deeper understanding of the platforms spokespeople use, from broadcast interviews to podcasts and panels, and what each format expects from them. We will cover:
- The role of the Brand Champion
- Different types of spokespeople
- Messaging - creation, verbal delivery and critiquing

Media Trainer Method Week Two: Designing High-Impact Training Workshops
Building your Media Training Workshop
Format:
In-person workshop on 24th April 2026
Overview:
This week turns understanding into action. You will experience media training yourself as a participant, gaining first-hand insight into the dynamics of a professional training session. Experiencing the process from the spokesperson’s perspective is an important part of understanding how effective training is designed and delivered.
From there, you will learn how to design and deliver workshops that combine structure, energy and real value for participants. We will explore the theory behind strong workshop design, how to balance explanation with practical exercises, and how to adapt sessions for different audiences and scenarios.
You will also work through practical frameworks such as the Stepping Stone Technique, CREDIBLE and RELEVANT, alongside the fundamentals of crisis communications.
The session finishes by looking at how media training can develop into a wider client offering, including ways to add value and identify opportunities to extend client relationships and income potential. We will cover:
- The theory, structure and expectations of your workshops
- Practical frameworks and processes for participants
- Media training as part of crisis communications
- Value-add considerations and upselling opportunities

Media Trainer Method Week Three: Refine your style and shape your signature workshop
Workshop Design and Delivery (Virtual Week)
Format: A flexible online week combining a live group session with one-to-one guidance. We begin with a virtual workshop focused on delivering training with impact, authenticity and confidence.
What you’ll do: You’ll explore how to bring energy and presence into your delivery, using voice, body language and structure to engage participants and maintain focus throughout your sessions.
During the week, you will also book a personal one-hour session with Rebecca. This individual session allows you to refine your signature workshop concept, test your structure and receive tailored feedback on how to strengthen your training approach.
Outcome: By the end of the week, you will have clear direction for your workshop concept, structure and delivery style, ready to build and test in the weeks that follow.

Media Trainer Method Week Four: Leading Practice and Giving Feedback that Lands
Leading Interview Practice and Critiquing
Format:
In-person workshop on 8th May 2026
Overview:
Building on your presentation skills from Week Three, this session focuses on leading interview role plays, guiding participants through challenging scenarios, and delivering feedback that genuinely improves performance.
For journalists, this week highlights the shift from interviewing in your own style to facilitating interviews that test participants effectively and support their learning.
For communications professionals, it develops the skills needed to question messaging rigorously and challenge participants in ways that reflect the realities of media scrutiny.
You will explore how to design purposeful interview scenarios, ask questions that uncover strengths and weaknesses, and balance your role as both interviewer and trainer in the room.
You will also learn how to manage different personality types and confidence levels, maintain constructive energy in the session, and deliver feedback that is honest, practical and motivating.We will cover:
- Preparing effectively for role play exercises
- Different types of interview scenarios and questionning styles
- Active listening as both interviewer and trainer
- Providing clear, structured performance feedback
- Managing difficult dynamics and challenging participants constructively
You will also take part in a live exercise where you step into the interviewer role yourself, leading a role play and delivering feedback as a media trainer.

Media Trainer Method Week Five: Pricing, Marketing and Launching Your Offer
Pricing, Marketing, and Launching your Offer
Format:
In-person workshop on 15th May 2026
Overview:
This final week brings everything together. You’ll move from trainer to business owner, developing the commercial skills to position, price and promote your offer with confidence. The focus is on how to create packages that add value for clients while reflecting your experience and expertise.
You’ll explore how to identify your niche, create your bio, and price your services for both agencies and direct clients. You’ll also learn how to build your visibility, approach potential partners, and create marketing materials that open doors. We will cover:
- Identifying your niche
- Creating your bio
- Value pricing
- Rate cards and professional collateral
- Marketing opportunities, requirements and considerations
- Purchaser stakeholder mapping and pitch creation
- Next step planning: booking your first training workshop
